Cheri` Ben-Iesau was born in Los Angeles in 1961. She lived various places along the California coast until joining the Coast Guard in 1986.

Art runs in the family- her mother, Joy Dyar,  is an exceptional artist concentrating mostly on carving life like depictions of waterfowl, birds of prey, and songbirds which are among the west coast's most spectacular.

She is a true folk artist, having no formal schooloing in art.   Early work was mostly pen & ink. Recent work includes  a series depicting the many moods of women for an art show in early 2008 and several murals. Features about her art has appeared in several places including the
Louisiana Homes & Gardens, Proffesional Mariner and the Times Picayune.  She is currently working on a series called "Lafayette Street" which will feature the architechtural beauty of this down town New Orleans lane through the artist's eyes.

Cheri' Ben-Iesau is serving on active duty with the US Coast Guard which brought her to the  New Orleans area in the mid '90's.
