Coast Guard Sector New Orleans.  Click here to learn more.
To commemorate the Coast Guard's heroic acts during hurricanes Katrina & Rita, CAPT Robert Mueller, the Deputy Commander for Sector New Orleans, wanted a mural painted at USCG Sector New Orleans (above).  Scroll over images below for details...
This is the 1st quick sketch, done on note pad paper & shown to CAPT Mueller.  Once he approved the concept I drew several details on 18X24" paper, & tweaked as more ideas came in.
The area chosen for the mural is the main foyer & will wrap around 3 walls.
DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff helps cut the ribon on August 28 2006, dedicating the mural to the men & women of the Coast Guard.
I start painting the downtown skyline: End of March 2006 and 20 hours into the project.
The completed mural.
